Acknowledgements: letting other contacts know
The first alert of an outage carries an optional acknowledge button so one contact can signal the others that it is being handled.
The first alert of an outage includes an optional button: “Let other contacts know.” When a contact clicks it, three things happen:
- The outage is marked acknowledged, with their name and time recorded in your activity log.
- You get a push notification that they have seen the alert and are on it.
- Later updates in the same outage reflect that someone is already handling it.
Acknowledging is deliberately optional and low-stakes: the alert copy makes clear there is usually nothing a contact must do. It exists so that when three people get the same alert, they do not each independently start calling your family.

Contacts can also simply reply to any alert email; replies route straight to your inbox, so you will see them the moment you are back online.
