Sleep and battery awareness
The agent tells the backend when your Mac sleeps or the battery dies, so expected silence does not become a false alarm.
The most common false alarm is a sleeping laptop. Proxigenta attacks that from several angles:
- Expected sleep: when your Mac is about to sleep or shut down, the agent sends a final “going dark on purpose” signal. With “Ignore expected sleep” on (recommended), that silence is not treated as an outage for up to 24 hours.
- Sleep holds: when sleep was not prevented, later follow-ups wait extra time before firing (configurable per message, in hours and minutes).
- Prevent Sleep: a toggle in the agent menu keeps your Mac awake while idle. Caveat: macOS enforces lid-close sleep on battery, so closing the lid still sleeps the machine.
- Battery death: if the last heartbeat showed a critically low battery, the following silence reads as a dead battery, not a connectivity outage. By default proxigenta stays quiet; optionally it can send contacts a calm “powered down” note instead.
Waking up cleanly matters too: the first ping after sleep clears everything and, if contacts were alerted, triggers the all-clear.
