The check-in email and the I'm-online link

Before contacts are alerted you get a check-in email and push with a one-tap link that stands everything down.

When your device crosses the outage threshold, the first message goes to you, not your contacts: a check-in email (and a push notification if you enabled them) saying your device stopped reporting in, with a single button: “I'm online, don't alert my contacts.”

The check-in email: one tap and nobody else hears a thing.

Clicking it at any point during the outage stands your action plan down. If contacts had already been alerted, they automatically receive the all-clear, so a late click is still useful.

Details that matter:

  • The link works only while that outage is active. Once your connection is restored, old links become inert; a stale email can never trigger anything.
  • The window between your check-in and the first contact alert is your check-in window (15 minutes by default, adjustable in Action Plan).
  • Obvious catch: if your internet is truly down, you may not receive the email until you find another connection. The push notification on a phone with cellular data covers most of that gap.
